Hello, I am using AdventNet Agent ToolKit C Edition.
I made an agent that runs on Windows 2000.
When LAN connection is disconnected if the agent starts, the agent address in the trap generated by the agent is 127.0.0.1.
If LAN connection is connected again, the agent address is 127.0.0.1.

I want to make the agent address equal IP address of the PC that the agent is running on.

thanks,

Hi,

If your agent and the manager are in the same PC, then you will get the agent address as "127.0.0.1" in the generated trap by default. This loopback address value can be modified.

Based on the agent version, we maintain a file called v1v2managertable.txt or v3managertable.txt under conf/snmp directory. This file will have a default entry where the Manager Host will be "127.0.0.1". If you modify this value to the PC IP Address(local manager), then you will get the agent address as the IP address of the PC in the generated trap.

Thanks,
Devi.

Dear Devirani

Thank you for your help.
But I regret to find that the agent and the manager are in the different PCs respectively.

I made v1v2managertable.txt on conf/snmp directory by a text editor because there was not v1v2managertable.txt on the directory.
But there was v2managertable.txt on the directory from the first.
The content of v1v2managertable.txt is the copy of the content of v2managertable.txt.

I modified the default entry "127.0.0.1" in v2managertable.txt, v3managertable.txt and v1v2managertable.txt to the IP Address of the remote PC that the manager runs on, just in case.

But they don't work.

When LAN connection is disconnected if the agent starts, the agent address in the trap generated by the agent is 127.0.0.1.
Even when LAN connection is connected again, the agent address is 127.0.0.1.

Thanks and Regards,
zxc

Hi,

In my previous mail, i mentioned it was v1v2managertable.txt. It was an typo error. It is either v1managertable.txt or v2managertable.txt depending on the agent version.

If your agent version is v2, then you will get v2managertable.txt under conf/snmp directory.

Kindly remove the v1v2managertable.txt under the conf/snmp directory and try testing with v2managertable.txt.

If you come across any issue, please send your query to cagent-support@adventnet.com.

Thanks,
Devi.
