Creating a task workflow

I am in the process of creating request template for the self service portal. I have the template created and have added tasks to the template but I need to create a work flow for the tasks, since each of these tasks are dependent on the previous task being completed. I would like the workflow to follow this pattern:
  1. Request submitted from user
  2. Request created - task 1 assigned to technician and email sent notifying tech of required task
  3. Task 1 completed - task 2 assigned to tech and email sent notifying that task 1 is completed, now it is time to work on task 2.
  4. Task 2 is completed - task 3 assigned tech notified
  5. etc..........
It is very critical that these tasks are completed in order for the issue to be resolved correctly.

How do I make this happen, currently when the user submits a ticket -- every technician that has a task assigned is notified at the same time.
