Repercussions to deleting a Technician

Repercussions to deleting a Technician

If I delete a Technician, because they are no longer part of the company - what will happen to the -closed- tickets assigned to him? Will they become unassigned? What's the best alternative, if so, for auditing purposes? Is it better to change them to Requester or would this have the same effect?
