Request Custom Menu - Predefined Reply/Forward Action

I've been attempting to do some research to learn what is possible to accomplish by using the scripts through the Custom Menu or the two API's to help make our work team work as efficiently as possible. Do you have any generalized support documentation that provides an overview of the interactions that are possible through these tools?

One specific goal we have is building some predefined quick actions. For example, we regularly receive a request that requires us to update some specific account information. Our team does not process these requests directly rather we forward them to an internal department who does the actual update. I would like to create a single button or menu item that would

  1. Automatically update a variety of request fields to predefined selections
  2. Process a "Pick Up" action to tag the active technician as begin assigned to the request.
  3. Forward the request to a predefined email address with a predefined message.
  4. Reply to the request with a predefined message.
  5. Close the request.
This would greatly reduce the time it takes to process one of these requests as each of those steps are currently done manually. Would this type of interaction be possible using the Custom Menu scripts and if so is there any documentation that would help me better understand how to implement such a script? I do not currently have the programming skills that would be required to write the script, but I am not without exposure to reading and editing simple scripts. I'm reasonably confident that with a better understanding of how these interactions occur I could learn the skills necessary to begin building these scripts for our team.
