Dear Users,

We are glad to announce the release of ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus 8.0

SDP 8.0 can be downloaded from

http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/service-desk/download.html

Existing SDP customers can move to the latest 8.0 version by applying the migration pack available at

http://www.manageengine.com/products/service-desk/91677414/ManageEngine_ServiceDesk_Plus_7_6_0_SP-2_0_0.ppm

Existing customers, kindly note, that upgrade to 8.0 can be done only over 7611. Customers in earlier builds can move to build 7611 by applying the service pack available at

http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/service-desk/service-packs.html

We strongly recommend to try the upgrade in the test environment before applying it to the live setup. Steps for creating the test environment is available at

WARNING: Please be aware that when you try to install ServiceDesk Plus on an already installed machine, it will uninstall the existing SDP installation and the existing data will be lost. Hence do not install SDP 8.0 in already installed machine

Steps to apply the ppm:

1. Shut down ServiceDesk Plus Server.
2. Run the script UpdateManager.bat (UpdateManager.sh for Linux) in the <ServiceDesk_Plus_Home>/bin folder. This opens the Update Manager tool.
3. Click "Browse" to select the Service Pack file (ManageEngine_ServiceDesk_Plus_<Version No>_0_0_SP-x_0.ppm file that you had downloaded) and then click "Install...".
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to apply the Service Pack / Hotfix.
5. Once the upgrade is complete, start ServiceDesk Plus Server.

Please be informed that we are taking forced backup before the migration as a precautionary measure and the system can be recovered in case of any issue during migration.

In case of any migration failures, you can follow the steps listed in the below link to revert to the earlier version.

Hi.

I Cannot upgrade SDP 7611 to 8000.

I tried 3 times but when we have 98% completed, occurs error.

What I have to do?

Please goto the installation folders under ManageEngine\ServiceDesk\server\default\log and send us the updatemangerlog's to our Support Team at support@servicedeskplus.com to further analyze the issue.

In the meanwhile you may revert back to 7611 with the help of the instructions provided on the below link:

What is Service Catalog, how should i configure it and use it, would some one explain me in detail about this new feature and benefits of it.

Since the update to 8.0, ticket replies are no longer automatically combined into the parent ticket conversation..

Really disappointed in this release so far. After all the delays in getting it pushed out, I have found 2 huge bugs which are causing us problems.

1st is accounts are duplicating
2nd is the Spam Filter isn't working correctly (Spam can update an existing ticket)

We have identified both the issues and will be fixing it on a patch release which would come out this week.

In version 8.0 fixes mentioned error correction: "SD-24801 In Request Custom Filter , "AND" condition is not Working (Personalize : Danish)" Listed Danish personalization. For the Russian personalize this issue has been resolved or left? And will the patch for this error for 7.6, because upgrade to 8.0 has no special desire for possible hidden bugs that are present in each version upgrade and are not eliminated for a long time.

Does this mean if I run the upgrade over 7611 it will delete all the data?

No, that means you cannot use the standard full installer to upgrade a machine.

If you download the service pack (a PPM file) and use the Update Manager to install it you will keep your data.

You should still back up all data and the old SDP program directory first though.

And given the few potentially showstopping bugs people are finding, you might wish to wait for the hotfix that ME should be releasing this week.
