Environment: PC-XP AdventNet TrapViewer
When TrapViewer receives traps containing an snmpTrapAddress oid set with an ipAddress unknown from Netbios Name Service, it gets a particular treatment which consists of querying the WINS server (ethereal traces as attachement) : this hinders display of traps with a delay of at least 4 seconds between display of each of them.
This problem only occurs when the trapViewer runs on XP environment. There is no problem when running on linux.
There is no such delay when the snmpTrapAddress is not present.
Here is an trace a received trap with an unknown snmpTrapAddress:
gLicenseExpired
{
sysUpTime: TimeTicks: 9 days, 21 hours, 24 minutes, 5 seconds.
snmpTrapOID: Object ID:gLicenseExpired
gLic_CompProcId: INTEGER: 33
gLic_Feature: Expired
gLic_Version: 5.5.5
gLic_State: 35
snmpTrapAddress: IpAddress: 130.130.201.75
snmpTrapCommunity: alcatel
}
Is there a way to avoid the NBNS queries ?
Thanks in advance for help.
