Updates on Windows 7 causing several computers to get stuck at "stage 3 of 3" for hours

Hello,

We use ManageEngine Desktop Central to push out all of our Windows Updates and various third party updates regularly.  I have a number of computers that we recently installed a string of updates on, where more than half of them had this issue.

These are all Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit machines.  After rebooting the computers to complete updates, they get to the screen "Stage 3 of 3" "preparing to configure Windows", where it asks you not to turn off your computer.  Then they just sit there, for at least a couple of hours.  It turns out that it is actually done configuring the updates after a few minutes (even though it says it isn't), and if you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL at this screen, it brings up the login screen and lets you log right in.  But communicating that to all of the users and making them understand it is difficult, so I would like to find out what is causing this, and prevent it if possible.

Here is a list of updates that I know caused this issue on some of the computers:

Thanks to anyone that can help on this.  I am having a really hard time figuring this one out, because some of the computers came up fine, and others did not.  I can't seem to narrow it down to a specific update causing this issue.
              New to ADManager Plus?

                New to ADSelfService Plus?
