When I attempt to perform a backup of my Nexus 5596 switches, they fail with the following error:

% Invalid command at '^' marker.

TFTP put operation failed:No route to host

The reason it is failing is because the automated backup uses the default vrf. However, the Nexus has out of band management interfaces that have been configured on my switch for management tasks, such as this. I need to be able to specify the management vrf.

 

How can I specify the management vrf for automated Nexus backups?

Do I need to create a custom template?

If I create a custom template will I still get the benefits of the automated backup (storage of configs in the db, exporting of configs to folders, compliance checking of configs, comparison of running/startup configs)?
