Custom Triggers with service requests

I'm starting to build an IT Onboarding workflow.  The idea is that new tasks/tickets/scripts will be triggered along with approval workflow in ServiceDesk Plus.  

My first hurdle was to simply run a script after service request submittal (like custom triggers for incidents and changes).  Unfortunately, the only scripting available is client-side form rules in Service Requests.  Can we get custom triggers on Service Requests?  If it's already there, can somebody point me in the right direction?
