email reports too large
Hi I got an audit report emailed to me this morning that was so large that it hung outlook while trying to render it. I saved the email to a HTML file which was an amazing 57Meg is size. We are a small organisation so I cannot imagine the file sizes being sent in larger organisations. When you read the HTML there are over 50,000 rows of code. Every table row has formatting applied.
It seems that there is no optimisation of the HTML code here. Shouldn't these reports be stored on the PMP web server and the email just contain a link to the report? Perhaps a summary report with perhaps some high severity events only. Shouldn't the email, if you have to send the data, have the file compressed or saved more efficiently 57Meg is just NOT acceptable!
By comparison I opened the exported HTML email in word, which took forever to open and then saved it as a word document and the file is 1.6meg in size.
Surprisingly saving the file as plain text is 2.5meg This compresses to a nice 113K which is easily OK to email around.
