JLozano Formation Lap

Hello All,

I am not very well versed in Netflow Analyzer but managed to get our key Nexus switch interfaces sending data to our server. Unfortunately the size of the traffic looks way to small. For instance, a WAN link is showing a peak of only 19.65 kbps. I know this is not accurate. I'm wondering if there is a setting change I need to make in Netflow Analyzer or if I need to make a change to the way netflow is setup on the switches.

Any  help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Jim L.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for writing to us. Please configure the device as mentioned in the below link and check on the issue:

That is pretty much how I had configured netflow on our Nexus switches. The only difference is I used these values originally:

flow timeout active 120
flow timeout inactive 32
flow timeout fast 32 threshold 100

I changed to :

flow timeout active 60
flow timeout inactive 15

Also I and added to the flow exporter config:

template data timeout 60
option exporter-stats timeout 60
option sampler-table timeout 60

I'm still seeing data represented in kbps. With the sampler set to  mode 1 out-of 100 is that what is causing the data flow to appear small? Do I need to allow for that sample rate and convert?

Thanks.

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your reply. Please update the sampling rate as 100 in all the interfaces of the device in NetFlow Analyzer UI, by clicking on the Edit interface icon and check.

If you still face the issue, in that you have to check regarding this with device vendor, since this can be the device side issue, where netflow flow export from device may not be recording all the conversations passing through the interface.
