IP Office SNMP/MIB - Basic Help

Hi,

I am very new at this so hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. I am very slowely getting to grips with SNMP but I am struggling with MIB's which I am specifically trying to get to with with our Avaya IP Office 500.

So far I have enabled SNMP on the IP Office (System Events, Configuration and ticked SNMP Enabled and put in the Read-Only Community name we are using and the standard SNMP Port as 161. Device ID, Contact and Location are currently blank) and beleive I have set up SNMP Traps as well (System Events, Alarms, added a new alarm, selected Trap and ticked the Events I want to report on).

On OpManager I have the phone system showing although I had to input the Vendor, Category and Type manually but it does have IP 500 6.1(5) in the Sys Desc and when I click on Passwords it sucessfully links using SNMP credentials only. This is as far as I have managed to get and at the moment it is only showing availability, response time and packet loss.

I have also found the MIB files and put them in the standard folder for OpManager but this is where I am stuck. I am assuming this is how I report fully on the IP office and want to be able to see and report on all our calls, when there is a problem, report on our ISDN lines etc etc.

Bear in mind I am completely new at this I have tried looking on help guides and forums but all of it is just a few too many steps ahead of where I am. What do I need to do next? I have tried to link the MIB files using the web browser MIB tool, some will load and I can hit GET and some information comes up but it doesnt seem to link anything to the device on OpManager and cant really get any further. I tried the external MIB tool but again not sure what I should be doing with these MIB files or how I manage to link them to the phone system on OpManager.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
