Limitations of Advanced Script Execution

Limitations of Advanced Script Execution

I am looking for additional documentation, forum posts or other assistance with Advanced Script execution in DeviceExpert.

From what I can tell there is no method to have the script engine perform a command and based on the output of that command then perform a second command.  If-Then type language

My specific need is within Cisco switches.  we have 500+ cisco switches that are a mix of 24 and 48 port switches.

I need to go run a port level command against every port on the switch that is not a trunk/uplink port.

I would like the script to be able to determine if this device is a 24 port switch and in which case run the command against ports 1-25 (but NOT update ports 25 +26).
For a 48 port switch I would like to update ports 1-48 (which includes ports 25 and 26.

I cant run a interface range command generically as Cisco will respond with an error if the port range doesnt match the device.

Due to the number of switches we have I dont want to have to sort out what are 24 port and what are 48 port switches.  (unless there is some auto-group feature in DE that I am not aware of that can create a new device group based on model/device info).

Any thoughts or assistance is greatly appreciated.
