MDM why can't I search "groups & devices" by S/N & IMEI?

It seems strange that under Inventory>Devices I can lookup devices by serial number and IMEI but I cannot do any changes in regards to the profile or group that the device is in.

I can scan it, reset passwords etc  but not change groups.


When I try to find the same device under Manage>Groups & Devices to assign or change a grouping/profile then I do not have the option to search for device by S/N or IMEI (unique identifiers)

Why is this?

Currently if multiple devices were setup on the same email ; e.g. testteam@.... 
if more than 1 of the same device(android) is in the same group you cannot differentiate between them.

This is giving me many problems, because trying to open all devices of the same model in seperate tabs to compare them isn't easy due to javascript errors (javascript:r392c29(1,this))
if I click in to one of the duplicate devices to look at the device (lack of info on screen - why?) then if it is not the correct device I have to go back and redo the search again and remember the position of the device I just clicked on.

Why can't the same search columns be available on both pages?
Why on Manage>Groups & Devices is no identifying information displayed on any of the devices?
How are other people managing this? Is there a quick fix?
