Hi all,

I am working for a cloud provider where the customer has the wish to monitor Citrix XenApp servers. We do not want to give the customer local admin rights for various reasons. The monitoring platform is owned by this customer. Is it possible to create a local account which only allows monitoring without any passibility to change server settings?

Thanks in advance.

Marcel

Hi,

Currently we do not have out-of-the box monitoring capability for Citrix XenApp servers. This is present in our roadmap. However now if it is windows based you can use WMI performance counter monitor to monitor any WMI counters.

Is your question related to user account privileges for WMI mode connection to a windows server? Please clarify.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

The basic question is can we monitor a Windows server (With WMI, regardless of the role) without creating a full local admin? IE what rights do we need to give a standard user account to make this possible, if this is at all possible.

Hi,

Thank you for clarifying. To monitor Windows Servers in WMI mode and capture all metrics currently supported in Applications Manager we require an Administrator user credential.

I have attached a document illustrating all steps involved in WMI data collection and User privileges required.(Find WMI Troubleshooting.doc attached to this post) Hope this will help!

Thanks & Regards,
Paul Jacob
