Testing Desktop Central... agent scanning fails. Error - Data storage error occurred while populating asset data. Scanning failed

I'm evaluating this product and have hit a bit of a roadblock.  First I'll start by saying I do have a support ticket open for this issue but have yet to get a fix/resolution.  I have Windows firewall disabled globally on my domain.  I am able to successfully push the agent to client computers.  When I initiate scan from the DC server I can view the agent on the client machine and the scan begins as expected.  On the scan system screen on the DC server the error simply reads "Scanning Failed".  On the action log viewer the error reads " ComputerName : Data storage error occurred while populating asset data. Scanning failed".   I've verified connectivity from agent to server on all required ports and all ports report "open".  I've tried manually installing the agent msi and this had no effect on the issue.  I've tested this with multiple clients and all report the same error.  I've tried googling and searching this forum with the given error message but get nothing specific to the error I am seeing.  Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
